The UCSF Health Specialty Pharmacy is dedicated to helping patients and providers manage chronic and complex diseases that require specialized therapies and customized pharmacy services.
A specialty pharmacy is different than traditional pharmacies, in that we help guide patients through their medication journey to ensure effective, safe and timely administration. Our goal is to facilitate medication access and work as a financial advocate for our patients.
Our Specialty Pharmacy care team will educate you on all medications, including administration techniques, side effects management and drug interactions. We will proactively contact you to assist with refill reminders and provide ongoing support. We offer fast, free home delivery along with the option of picking up your specialty medication from the UCSF retail pharmacy location.

Benefits coordination + financial assistance
We are your financial advocates. We will help you every step of the way from insurance authorizations and copays to enrolling you in funding assistance programs. Our reimbursement specialists are experts at navigating through financial paperwork and finding ways to help ensure your medications are available.
Timely refills + managing your prescriptions
Our team of clinical experts will contact you prior to your refill to coordinate your medications so you don’t experience a lapse in your treatment and address any concerns or side-effects that you may be experiencing. We work closely with your health care provider so you experience the best possible outcome from your therapy. We also provide clinical pharmacist support if you have any drug therapy related questions. For urgent medication concerns after hours, pharmacists are available.
Free medication delivery
We can send all medications to your home free of charge. Our goal is to make sure you have your medication in-hand so you can start it as quickly as possible and avoid any interruptions in therapy. We want to make getting your medicine easy and convenient for you.
